In Badgers basketball, very few names are as revered as Frank Kaminsky’s. A number of sportswriters, fans, and basketball experts have even gone so far as to say that Kaminsky was the greatest Badger of all time. Kaminsky was a Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year awardee before the 2014 season started. Because of him, many sports writers and fans had placed their bets on the Badgers to win it all. It was a bold claim, but Kaminsky and company were up to the task. Image source: BTpowerhouse.com With Kaminsky on the court leading them, the Badgers won 36 of 39 games. After winning the regular season title, they went on to win the tournament of the Big Ten. This was the first time in Badgers history that they were the NCAA’s number one seed. They achieved more glory by besting Kentucky on the way to their first finals appearance. Although they eventually fell to Duke in the championship game, people knew that the Badgers could not have done it without their leader, Kaminsky. He is the most decorated player in Badgers basketball, even bagging the school’s Male Athlete of the Year.
With all these accomplishments, it’s not hard to see why people could call him the Badgers’ GOAT. Hi, I’m Sandy Petrocelli from Wisconsin. I love sports and I love writing about it. Follow me on Twitter for similar updates.
